Spring of 2010. Edmonton 9/11 Truth actions began March 2007 and ended at Occupy Edmonton November 11, 2011.

We can ask for a new watercolor set, even though it will be pointed out that we never used the old one, and that all of the paints dried into a crumbly mess. 5 years of 9/11 Civil Information activism

A co-worker said in the fall of 2006 "It looks like something is wrong with tower 7, but what can you do about it?" March 2007 - November 11, 2011, the period during which I was a 9/11 Truth activist, was the most productive time in my life. I told my pal Laurie that I think there's a lot we can do about 9/11. Looking back, I have no regrets, only lots of gratitude towards friends and supporters of 9/11 Truth. My biggest achievement was teaming up with Robin Hordon, Raymond Geisler, and Wayne Prante to promote Civil Information Activism as a tool for change.

Civil information activism combines respect, perseverance and commitment to achieve the goal of bringing an important cause to public awareness. It empowers citizens to become a medium of information that is sometimes overlooked or ignored by corporate media.

Civil information activism is taking part in public events in a safe, non-confrontational manner, never putting the public or the activists at risk. It's foundation is based on respect for all people, property and the rule of law.

For 5 Years the 9/11 Civil Info Activists of Edmonton have never shied away from the controversial questions surrounding the events of 9/11, taking it publicly into their community, educating and keeping Albertans informed about the ever-growing doubts of the official 9/11 story.

These activists became the media by providing the best news and information that corporate media has ignored or covered up since 9/11.

Since March of 2007, when Edmonton 9/11 Truth began, no activist practicing civil information has been arrested or injured. One city by-law officer highly commended our group's civil approach to interacting with the public, and said other causes would benefit from doing things the civil info way.

Over the years, it took a small, committed group of us to distribute thousands of 9/11 Blueprint for Truth (Winnipeg Conference) DVDs and thousands of brochures, and to collect petition signatures, covering expenses out of our own pockets. We also produced speaking and film events, bringing people like Truth Jihad radio host Dr. Kevin Barrett from the backwoods of Wisconsin; author/journalist Barrie Zwicker from Toronto; Professor Anthony J. Hall from Lethbridge University; Pilots for 9/11 Truth Captain Bruce Sinclair of Leduc, Alberta; and scientist Dr. Niels Harrit from Copenhagen, Denmark. They all spoke at Edmonton's Stanley Milner library, at conferences familiarly known in our city as "Edmonton Questions 9/11".

I personally managed to cover a 10-mile radius within the centre of the city, putting up posters bi-weekly over a 3-year period. Author, columnist and 9/11 Truth critic Todd Babiak of the Edmonton Journal once told me when our paths crossed in the river valley that we have put 9/11 Truth on the map in Edmonton. He also said I should try to find something more positive to do with myself.

Before I became a 9/11 Truth Activist...

In my 20s I learned to soar without boundaries, earning a pilot's license. Dr. Wayne Dyer's book Your Erroneous Zones was my owner's manual for life. I was later blessed to be a father with 4 wonderful kids (all grown up now) and learned about financial responsibility the hard way as a non-custodial father. Back then my wings were clipped. I lost my freedom to soar, and replaced it with frustration and anger of the family court system. In 2006 I first learned about the serious problems and unanswered questions with the 9/11 official narrative while visiting an online single father's support network where the 9/11 topic was discussed openly in the chat rooms.

I have worked 40 years as a newspaper pressman, a skill and trade I very much loved doing most of my life. My on-the-job training included how to survive and negotiate with my competitive peers and still earn a respectful living. In my 40s I hiked a total of 240 kilometres on 3 treks along the West Coast Trail in B.C. Those bumps, strains and bruises resulted in me getting over a lot of fears, including the fear of the unknown and beasts in the forest. I replaced my fear of bears with kinship and respect, a process I call "going through the belly of the trail". I also learned how to soar again, this time with both feet on the ground.

Before I became a 9/11 Truther I had just completed 10 years of volunteering as the public relations director in my local community theatre, Walterdale Playhouse. There I got some of the best education in public and media relations know-how, provided under the wings of some of the best artistic directors Edmonton has seen. There I learned the value of working hard for every show produced, regardless if it was a success or not.

When I decided there was something wrong with the official 9/11 story in the fall of 2006, I realized that all my life experiences would now come into play, meeting at a crossroads in my 50s. I was to learn much more about the world and myself as I began a new journey as a 9/11 activist. This officially began during a march and rally against the war in Afghanistan in the winter of 2007.

That journey that will now end during Occupy Edmonton 2011. An anonymous person once wrote to me years ago, "Man, did you pick a cause that's all uphill!" My unshakable optimism, faith and belief in myself were all that were required to deal with all the roadblocks set up by my critics, infowar infiltrators, and libellous attackers, and to cope with threats of legal action as well as constant ridicule from my peers and the corporate media.

Today I'm convinced that 9/11 was a false flag attack against all people on the planet. At the very least, I believe Washington and the Pentagon may have committed treason by ignoring all the warnings about the impending attacks, thus allowing 9/11 to happen to the American people. Those few who took an oath to protect Americans not only let their countrymen down, they have let down all humanity.

Beyond Washington's Fictitious Fear : Enter Afghanistan!

The Harper Government calls this 9/11 Retribution

Since 2002, 158 members of the Canadian Forces have been killed fighting a war of "9/11 retribution" in Afghanistan. Canada has never investigated the crimes of 9/11. Meanwhile, over 100,000 Afghan civilians (mostly women and children) have suffered, paying the highest price of Canada's 9/11 retribution by losing life and limbs to NATO/Taliban's bombs and bullets.

Edmonton Poster Campaign: "If you want the public to hear you once, you have to say what you're saying five or 10 times." Izzy Asper, Canadian media tycoon. To help keep fresh the unresolved questions surrounding the events of 9/11, I placed posters on city-provided kiosks on a bi-weekly that began 2008 and ended in the fall of 2011.

So how effective was it, putting Mr. Asper's words into action? One weekly newspaper in Edmonton, SEE magazine, published a movie review titled "Virtual JFK : Vietnam if Kennedy had lived!" The SEE reviewer wrote, "With a title as silly as Virtual JFK: Vietnam If Kennedy Had Lived, Koji

Masutani’s speculative documentary sounds more like a loopy, handwritten diatribe that ought to be stapled to a telephone pole beside those 'Edmonton Questions 9/11' posters."

Back in the spring of 2008, our small, enthusiastic group of 9/11 Truth friends and supporters had just completed another afternoon of activism at the popular Old Strathcona farmer's market. We congratulated and hugged each other for another good day's job of activism, and went on our separate ways. Along my way home I stopped at an outdoor cafe and decided to rest my feet and enjoy a cup of coffee. Several Edmonton police officers parked their bikes next to the cafe and sat at a table next to me.

My mouth still warm from talking to dozens of people at the farmer's market, I decided strike up some friendly conversation with the 4 officers on their coffee break and tell them the story I've shared thousands of times as a civil info activist about World Trade Center Building 7, that third tower that was not hit by a plane yet collapsed at free-fall speed at 5:20 in the afternoon on 9/11. They had a look of puzzlement on their faces that seemed to say, "Is this guy for real?". They listened politely to my story, so I kept it short and decided to share with each officer a copy of an AE911Truth brochure. They respectfully declined, as they were on duty.

One officer did ask about the collapse of WTC 7, two others looked un-interested, and the fourth officer watched me carefully with a concerned look on her face. The coffee break was over, and the officers began to mount their bikes. The female officer was the last to get up from her chair. She stood directly over me and said, "I have friends over in Afghanistan." She paused, leaned closer to me, and said, "I don't want to hear that they are over there fighting for the wrong reasons." And then she left.

I said as she parted, "I hope your friends stay safe."

I returned to my now-cold coffee and was thinking about her words when a lone black woman sitting a few tables away said something I could not quite hear. I said, "Excuse me?"

She said, "How in the world did you get those officers talking about 9/11? I've been trying to tell my family about Building 7 for years, and they think I'm crazy."

2nd. Petition goes to Ottawa - Investigate 9/11 Canada

From February to September 2011 over 900 Edmontonians said
"Investigate 9/11". That petition lays in wait in Ottawa, to be read in Parliament.

Signatures have been collected from UofA Chemistry students who also received copies of Dr. Niels Harrit's paper on Active Thermitic Material. Signatures on this petition Include CHED radio's CopTalk co-host Patrick Tracy, journalist and author Barrie Zwicker, Pilots for 9/11 Truth Captain Bruce Sinclair, Doug the Push-Up Guy and Professor Anthony J. Hall of Lethbridge University.

Recent 9/11 Actions took place during the Caribbean Carnival and Parade, Heritage Days, Taste of Edmonton, the Street Performers Festival, Alberta Legislature events, the Old Strathcona Art Walk, The Works Art Festival, the Edmonton Folk Festival and the Fringe Festival. All 919 petition signatures have been sent to Ottawa, in hopes that one brave MP will read it in Parliament. Thank you Edmonton, "The City of Champs for 9/11 Truth!"

So many times when you were called by corporate security guards to have civil information activists removed, you recognized that we were civil and were not breaking any laws, and respectfully allowed us to continue.

Final thoughts on November 11, 2011: Where do I go from here...?

Truth is, I'm burnt out and long overdue for a break from 9/11 activism. When our group dwindled in numbers a year ago last summer, and the last remaining few of us were finding it more and more difficult to find the time to continue our actions together, I decided to give 9/11 Truth actions one more year before hanging my 9/11 activist spurs. Over the past year I managed to complete countless 9/11 civil information actions, one more "Edmonton Questions 9/11" conference, and several interviews.

Petition Drive: Since February 22 to September 1, 2011 - I collected mostly by myself over 900 signatures for a petition that will hopefully be read in the House of Commons in Ottawa. The petition, initiated by David Long of Ottawa and Richard Gage, calls on the Canadian government to conduct a public investigation of 9/11. In between all my 9/11 civil actions, I moonlighted by doing 14 citizen media reports on YouTube for the Arab Spring protests and rallies in support of the people of Syria, Bahrain, Libya and Palestine. : For myself I'm pretty much convinced the World Trade Centers were brought down by controlled demolition, the official story is in serious doubt and the worst day looks suspiciously like a false flag attack against Americans and all who love freedom. "Who would do this and why? Certainty not the Jews and Dick Cheney could never have pulled this off without a lot of help. That's for the future, activists, scholars and historians to figure out and fill in the blanks. Obviously we may never agree with all that happened on the worst day - 9/11. But that's the underlining foundation to this modern tool for change I fondly regard as Civil Information Activism. It's respect for all people including our critics regardless of our differences regarding the events 9/11. It's also respect for property and the rule of law as there is no place for discord, violence, hate or fear with the practice of civil information activism. Only community, information sharing, love and courage is what makes this modern activism work so successfully. Civil Information actions is like oxygen of information for change. It was a picture perfect day of civil information activism for several 9/11 truthers at the downtown 104th street farmers market. Farmer market brass (coordinators) were not having such a good day after several failed attempts to remove the 9/11 truthers. Richard Brinkman was first approached by an irate woman claiming to be in charge of the farmers market demanding we remove ourselves and our banners immediately. Richard advised the woman who refused to show identification or give her name that "we are in no agreement with the farmers market and that she had no authority over us." She left angry and soon called police. 3 Police officers met with Richard, Emily, Tony and young Matthew and after some questioning they determined we were civil, not causing trouble and were allowed to continue our civil actions. A second woman with a clip board in hand refused not to show ID or give her name came afterwards yelling at us to leave the area immediately while threatening to bring back a group of board members to remove us. Richard warned the lady that he would call police if she carried out her threats. She and the board members never returned. We gave away dozens of free DVDs and ae911truth.org brochures over a 2 hours span at this location on this picture perfect Saturday civil information[ing] 9/11 truth. Many people stopped to thank us for the information we shared.

An Edmonton plain clothed police officer become verbally abusive and tried to force us to dismantle our 9/11 civil action preventing us from free speech, freedom to assemble and freedom of the press on this public street corner in Old Strathcona. After not resolving this for almost an hour we decided to move across the street and told one confused officer who originally gave us verbal permission to do our actions on that corner" no hard feelings." He was clearly confused by the situation and had no clear answer if we were breaking the law. His superior (the bully with the camera) wanted nothing more than stop free speech. The City of Edmonton has since been contacted but councillor Jane Batty and Mayor Mandel have not responded since October 2011 to date.

After several confrontations over the years between civil info activists and corporate security, police and peace officers, I've learned most authorities are not willing to ticket nor arrest you, but would rather reach a compromise or agreement where all parties can be happy. It's a small few whose egos might overshadow the law they're suppose to enforce that we must pay special attention to and take precautions to protect ourselves against. Working in groups no less than 2 in public areas and always having a camera on hand to record confrontations are some steps you can take to protect yourselves. An EPS sergeant once cautioned our activists that some officers give no options to continue actions in public areas. He advised when told to leave - just cooperate and move out of the area. I would agree since you can't do civil information actions effectively from a jail cell. Submitting a formal complaint against the officer may be your next move. Remember to be civil, respectful, avoiding long debates and arguments. Your goal is to peacefully resolve these situations so your able to continue your civil information actions.

While al-Qaeda directly threatened Canada's oil industry in a 2007 article in Voice of Jihad magazine, security forces believe the attacks in British Columbia are related to grievances from people living in the area."The Western Canadian oil industry [two lines blanked out] encounters many opponents. Pollution, the use of lands owned or claimed by native communities, [and] the employment of people living in the area …are examples of the issues that create tension," say government documents obtained by Al Jazeera.

9/11 Truth and the Media "Good or Bad? You Decide!"

As it becomes increasingly clear that the official explanation of 9/11 is insupportable and won’t stand the test of time, I thought it might be apropos to establish a media “Honour” and “Dishonour” roll, recording those news organizations who have or haven’t done their job in reporting the story. The idea here is that, 10 or 15 years from now, when the great majority of people have cottoned-on to the fact that the government lied — just as the great majority now realize that about the Kennedy assassination — we’ll be able to look back and see which of them maintained the best traditions of journalism, and which were compliant or complicit.

This list is pretty much off the top of my head, and certainly subject to change, persuasion, and the wisdom of crowds. In other words, if you have suggestions for additions and subtractions, or moving an organization from one list to the other, let me know via the comments form. Please explain your reasons, and provide links to back them up when you can. Note that organizations can appear on both lists, and that individual columnists are excluded, as an organization may well maintain a columnist it disagrees with. We’re looking for institutional responsibility here. The exception is columnists like Alexander Cockburn, who also have senior editorial responsibility, and thus are the institution, or part of it. Maybe I’ll start a category for just-columnists down the road.

As well, the fact that a newspaper or magazine or network is big and mainstream, and possibly even corporate-owned, doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be recognized when it does something right.

“Doing the job” is defined here as not swallowing the government line wholesale, remaining skeptical, reporting new evidence as it emerges, and investigating the facts where warranted. Or at least some of the above. “Dishonor” means credulity in the face of government explanations, ignoring or actively suppressing contrary evidence, deriding debate, failing to correct information that has been proven false, and various other forms of pernicious and/or bush-league behavior.

So here’s the list for starters:

Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May deserves praise for urging four of her party's current and former candidates to cancel an Ottawa conference that is showcasing apologists for Iran's government. But Ms. May should do more: She should eject these individuals from the Green party. The four Green party activists are Paul Maillet, a retired Canadian Air Force colonel who is the Green candidate in Ottawa-Orleans; Qais Ghanem, a doctor who is running in Ottawa South; and two 2008 federal Green candidates, Akbar Manoussi and Sylvie Lemieux.

As reported on the Maclean's website by reporter Michael Petrou, Dr. Ghanem is a conspiracy theorist who believes that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job perpetrated by U.S. government agents, not an act of terror perpetrated by Muslim extremists.

Even if Ms. May is successful in getting the conference shut down, Dr. Ghanem's views would still disgrace the Green party in his capacity as official representative in Ottawa South. Just as Stephane Dion once dumped Lesley Hughes, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist running for the Liberals in the Winnipeg riding of Kildonan-St. Paul, so too must Ms. Green dump Dr. Ghanem.

An unbiased observer doesn't need to look beyond what's happening on the ground today in Iraq and Afghanistan to conclude the War on Terror has been a brutal, manipulative means to a transparently self-serving end.

None of this is news, however, to proponents of "9/11 Truth," a worldwide movement that seems to keep growing despite an unofficial media blackout on their questions and investigations. So what are these "Truthers" saying?

Many people were quick to declare 9/11 a possible "inside job" based on the visible facts themselves, in particular the blanket failure of air defence, which even former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura said defied all logic and precedent. They also seized on the history (largely unknown in North America) of Pentagon-linked "false-flag" terrorist attacks in Europe during the Cold War, and CIA involvement with al-Qaida operations.

With the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, it was seen that 9/11 was amazingly fortuitous to the Bush administration, elements of which had been looking for excuses to invade both countries -- for purely strategic-commercial reasons -- in the months and years prior to the attacks.

But it was the release of the 9/11 Commission Report in 2004 that breathed full life into the 9/11 Truth Movement -- because it was now apparent to many that the "official story" relied on massive distortion and evasion.

Building What? And, why should we care?

Question: On 9/11, How Many Skyscrapers Collapsed? Answer: Three

Many have never heard about the third tower that collapsed on that horrific day, September 11, 2001.
World Trade Center Building 7 (WTC7), a 47-story skyscraper was the third building that collapsed on September 11, 2001. This building, unlike World Trade Center 1 & 2, was not hit by a plane, yet it collapsed neatly into its own footprint at near free-fall speed at 5:20 PM on 9/11 (It was reported by the BBC as having already collapsed at 5:00, 20 minutes before it did). Neither before nor since have steel high-rises collapsed due to fire, which was the reason given for the fateful building collapses that day. Overwhelming evidence disproves the official story put out to the public by the 9/11 Commission. Indeed, the 571-page 9-11 Commission Report did not mention Building 7 at all. (The reply of a commissioner, when asked why the collapse of WTC7 was omitted, was that it was not considered significant enough to be included in the report.) Both FEMA and NIST’s later reports failed to explain how the fires in WTC7 caused total collapse at free-fall speed.

We need to, at the very least, take the responsibility to explore the truth of September 11, 2001. 9/11 was the pretext for 3 wars: The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the “War on Terrorism” (that according to Donald Rumsfeld, “will not end in our lifetimes”). Our government and our media have failed us. There has been no rational explanation from the White House, the media, the 9/11 Commission to justify the ensuing wars in retribution for 9/11. Likewise, there has been no proven rational explanation from our own Canadian government and media of why Canada is in Afghanistan. Canada readily joined the war in Afghanistan, even though there was no investigation to prove that the criminals that murdered 25 Canadians that day came from Afghanistan. If the reason is retribution as stated by Gordon O’Connor, where is the investigation to support this allegation?

Addressing the Princess Patricia troops in Edmonton, it was reported, ‘Canada is fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan in "retribution" for the 9/11 attacks that killed at least 3,000 people, including 25 Canadians, Defense Minister Gordon O'Connor said yesterday.’ The Ottawa Citizen January 21, 2007.
At a symposium, attended by mainly military personnel, O’Connor also said, “When the Taliban or al Qaeda came out of Afghanistan, they attacked the twin towers and in those twin towers, 25 Canadians were killed. The previous government and this government will not allow Canadians to be killed without retribution". Where is the evidence to support O’Connor’s statement of retribution? It is imperative that Canada conduct a proper and impartial investigation into the crimes of 9/11 and the murders of the Canadians who perished September 11, 2001. Until then, Canada MUST bring the troops home.

It is past time for us to see another point of view. There is hard evidence that our media and government refuse to acknowledge, regarding the truth of 9/11. Why? Why the silence? We have investigations on pretty much everything else. 1600 dead ducks in the tar ponds. Dead stingrays at the Calgary Zoo. Fires, accidents, murders. Why no investigation on the Canadian deaths of September 11, 2001? There is a smoking gun out there and we need to know the truth. War and the consequences of war will continue to flourish, if we don’t do anything about it.

There are those who claim that while it might be possible to pull off an event on the scale of a 9/11, it would be impossible to cover it up for very long; someone would spill the beans sooner or later. With this claim in mind, we can look back to the Manhattan Project. The Project was carried out in extreme secrecy, with nearly 40 laboratories and factories employing upwards of 200,000 people (many who didn’t know the project would be used to drop the bombs on Japan). The operations were kept secret until the announcement of the Hiroshima bombing and the ensuing nuclear explosion. Canada was involved too.
As part of its contribution to the Manhattan Project, Canada built and operated Project '9,' a heavy water plant at Trail, British Columbia. Housed in Chalk River, Ontario was one of four secret laboratories that were part of the project. Canadian universities were involved with project research and Canadian scientists relocated to the United States to work on the Manhattan Project.

Hundreds of credible critics who question the official account of 9/11 from the military, intelligence services, law enforcement, government, professional architects and engineers, chemists, physicists, pilots, professors and others can be found at the Patriots Question 9/11 website. They have established beyond any reasonable doubt that the official account of 9/11 is false and that, therefore, the official “investigations” bear the appearance of cover-up operations.

Even John Farmer, Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission, stated in his 2009 book, The Ground Truth, “In the course of our investigation into the national response to the attacks, the 9/11 Commission staff discovered that the official version of what occurred that morning—that is, when government and military officials had told Congress, the Commission, the media, and the public about who knew what when—was almost entirely, and inexplicably, untrue…the events of the day as entered in the records were unmistakable and unmistakably different from what officials had claimed…”

1270 architectural and engineering professionals and 9163 other supporters including A&E students are demanding of Congress a truly independent investigation. Hard core evidence is presented at their website ae911truth.org, as well as at numerous others.
Why are we not demanding the same of our Canadian government?

To date, late-August 2010, on the eve of the 9th anniversary of September 11, 2001, there has been no criminal prosecution done or justice served for the victims or the victim’s families. Yet we are still fighting in this war of “retribution.” Do Canadians not deserve, and are we not entitled to an honest, independent, subpoena- powered, oath-based investigation into the Canadian deaths on 9/11 and for our war of “retribution?” After all, this war is being waged with our tax dollars and in our names. At the very least, shouldn’t our elected representatives be calling for a re-investigation, or an international investigation into these war crimes? There is no statute of limitation for murder.

It is our duty as citizens to educate ourselves and question the decisions that our elected representatives have made in our name. We must ask: Who has benefited from these wars and the War on Terrorism? We demand an investigation to justify our participation in the war in Afghanistan, and to show why our troops, their families with their losses of husbands, brothers, fathers and sons, wives, sisters, mothers and daughters, the Afghani and Iraqi civilians, as well as our civil liberties and human rights are being sacrificed in the “War on Terrorism.”

We at Edmonton 9/11 Truth, along with millions worldwide, believe it is vital to investigate 9/11 Truth Now for Peace. All citizens have a right to the truth. Dear Sir,

It is my understanding that Public Safety Canada was provided with a mandate enacted on March 23rd 2005[1] by the Government of Canada to ensure that Canadians are safe from a range of risks such as natural disasters, crime, and terrorism. The Department has stated that there is no more fundamental role for government than the protection of its citizens. [2] I write you then in an open letter as a private citizen regarding the Government of Canada's official disposition to the events of 9/11, and all derived matters predicated there upon.

As in the case of a series of domino pieces, it is not logical to discuss new events causally linked with preceding ones as though they were disparate. Whether it be increased airport[3] and border security,[4] changes in foreign policy and the role of C.S.I.S., law enforcement, immigration, the lectures[5] heard within the auditoriums of our universities, the deployment of military ordnance and men abroad, debates on the procurement of war materials,[6] they are all preceded with the tragic aforementioned event that claimed thousands of lives, 24 of which were Canadian[7] and with lasting consequences for others.[8] It is not unreasonable to reflect on them as a set of issues forming an arborescence and sharing a common root, or significant mutual event that preceded all of them.[9] The influence has been undeniable.

Perhaps the most generally salient of these derived issues is the deployment of military assets and personnel to the nation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, currently estimated at a cost approaching $22,000,000,000 by some estimates10 and having claimed the lives of 15411 members of the Canadian Forces through their selfless sacrifice. This was initiated with the approval of the Governor General of Canada, then The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, in response to the recommendation of the Minister of National Defence, then The Honourable Arthur Eggleton, who authorized on September 20th 2001 Canadian Forces members on exchange assignments in the United States and other allied nations to participate in operations responding to the 9/11 attacks. 12 Other nations followed, including the governments of France, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Turkey, Romania, Australia, Spain, the United Kingdom, and at least 36 other nations.

The premise for the deployment, given the attacks were the result of al-Qaeda and resulted in the deaths of 24 Canadians, was the desire for regional stability from where the assailants had originated and the proactive prevention of similar incidents occurring in the future. The Prime Minister publicly reminisced on the fifth anniversary that “that is why the countries of the United Nations with unprecedented unity and determination launched their mission to Afghanistan to deal with the source of the 9/11 terror and to end, once and for all, the brutal regime that horribly mistreated its own people while coddling terrorists.”13 This was done at the request and with the cooperation of the Government of the United States.14 The foundational premise, or first domino, has recently been called into question with the publication of the nine-author, peer reviewed study, Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe.15 An international team of scientists from the University of Copenhagen, Brigham Young, and other institutions, applied optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to dust sampled in the aftermath collected by private citizens of N.Y.C..

Edmonton Sun: Area firefighters gathered under drizzly skies on the eve of the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, honouring fallen comrades, together with family and friends. This year's ceremony — recognizing 16 Edmonton firefighters who have died in the last year, along with the 343 New York city firefighters killed at the World Trade Center in 2001 — was originally scheduled for September 11 but had to be moved to the 10th due to a scheduling conflict. "It's unfortunate that they had to move it," said Todd Molineaux, a 19-year veteran with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services whose former captain, Barry Lewis, passed away in October 2009. "Barry and I did a (counterterrorism) course together, and it was really important to him. Speaking after the ceremony, Edmonton Firefighters Society Chairman Robb Cavell noted that he too was disappointed about the change of date from Sept. 11, while adding that this would not be a problem for next year's event, which will mark the tenth anniversary of 9-11. "It's going to be bigger and better, and it will be on a Sunday, which helps," he explained. "We have to honour the 343, and it's going to be a big event."

Old Strathcona Edmonton: 9/11 Civil Information Actions September 11th.

The Edmonton 9/11 Truth day of action, September 11, 2010 held from 9 AM - 3 PM at the Strathcona Farmer's Market was very successful. Over 1000 DVDs and hundreds of ae911truth brochures, newspapers, and evidence cards were handed out by 11 people seeking to get information that is not in the mainstream into the public's hands. Also handed out were 2-page and 4-page flyers from WTC7.net. The response from the public was very receptive and encouraging. Hopefully this will spur us onward to a real investigation so that all the wars (terrorism) will stop when the truth is out. Downtown Action Report: The weather man threatened rain but the sun dominated the bulk of the afternoon. Today was suppose to be a one man 9/11 civil info Pack n Stack of Architects and Engineers new broad sheet "9/11 Investigator" newspaper . Aaron and Paul stopped by to say hi on there way to the south side farmers market to ignite their very own book burning ... The torching of the multiple useful 9/11 commission report (see video below). George Heagle was in the area so he stopped by and joined Doug for the duration of the afternoon 9/11 civil information[ing]. Both George and Doug settled in at the local Sobeys for two hot bowls of bacon soup afterwards. George Richards and Trudy also stopped by for a few minutes while shopping to lend their support. We didn't give-away as many newspapers as I hoped for this warm fall afternoon , but the smiles, friendly conversations made it all worth while. Many strangers stopped by and gave thanks for our efforts. There were no negatives today, not even from the board members of the farmers market who called the police on us the last time we worked this area for 9/11 civil informing. Richard D. Brinkman

I finished with 8 late signatures that came from the University of Alberta before Security told me stop soliciting on University of Alberta property ( where were these guys in the past 6 months I've collected here ?) - They were actually very friendly and civil about it and were interested in taking home some of my 9/11 brochures. I will mail David Long of Ottawa Truth Seekers all 919 petitions signatures from Edmonton tomorrow - Interesting note, the last signature came from a student who's home town and country is Tel Aviv , Israel.
I'll have to sent this good news to Jonathan Kay of the National Post as well.

August 27, 2011 : 911 Activist Doug Brinkman completed his goal by collecting 911 signatures from the citizens in Edmonton for a public investigation of 9/11 in Canada.

The 6 month campaign ended today for me although I hope to add a few more here and there before sending them off to David Long of Ottawa Truth seekers who will have them read in the House of Commons in Ottawa this September. More signatures may come from those who needed more time to research before signing the petition.

The final push for signatures took place on a pleasant Saturday afternoon along the river valley trails, the University of Alberta and finally the Alberta Legislature with the 900th signature coming from a Biology student at the UofA. During my travels I met with many interesting people from all walks of life and heard some very interesting points of view on investigating 9/11 in Canada so over the next few days I plan to write more about my experiences including two occasions where I refused to to stop collecting petitions and move after ordered by Edmonton city peace officers at City Hall and another time by private security people at the Fringe Festival. I was on city public property outside the barriers of events and indicated I would indeed practice my democratic right to free speech and right to assemble. Both times I was allowed to continue with-out any incidents... More soon.

August 26, 2011: University and River Valley Bike TrailsI rode my bike along the river valley today and met folks along the trail for signatures, I later ended up at the University of Alberta and had a wonderful conversation with several students who some did sign the petition. One Chemist student who did not sign promised to read Dr Niels Harrit's paper on Nano Thermite and get back to me after her own research. I told her I have direct contact with Niels and said if she had any questions I would forward them to Niels. 10 signatures were earned today. 881 collected in Edmonton thus far...

I added 26 more signatures easily in the square and handed out twice that much of Emily's AE911Truth.org brochures. 6 More signatures were added by c-workers later that night.

August 23, 2011: Alberta Legislature

After hanging posters along Jasper Avenue I stopped for lunch at the Alberta Legislature grounds. I spoke with two gentlemen during lunch and got them to sign my 9/11 petition. For the next hour I added 10 more signatures easily.

110 more signatures were added this week in Edmonton from the 13 - 20 of August 2011 by both the Alberta Legislature grounds & just a half blook away from the gates of the Edmonton Fringe Festival Adventures. The Total of signatures collected in Edmonton stands at 827 citizens wanting a made in Canada public investigation of 9/11. Ottawa and Toronto are also participating. August 19 2011: 8 shy of new milestone 800 Signatures!
Another 22 signatures were added Friday during 9/11 civil information actions a half block away from the gates of the Fringe Festival. A law student stopped by with a friend and shared some of his personal reasons why we need to investigate 9/11 in Canada. I'll add his comments during the next YouTube report that I hope to put together once the this Fringe Fest ends later this weekend. I am now eight signatures shy of reaching the 800th milestone. I hope to go beyond 800 during the Saturday petition drive this weekend so long as the weather holds up.

August 17 2011:Fringe Festival Security Resolved!
15 more signatures added today- Total 770 total collected in Edmonton. The security issues were also resolved- Mike Ford of the Fringe Festival extended an apology on behalf of Security for yesterday's mis-understanding. I worked the same area today.

August 16 2011:Fringe Festival Security

It was another beautiful afternoon this Tuesday outside the gates of the Fringe Festival where I collected another 10 signatures within an hour bringing the total to 755 Edmontonians asking their government in Ottawa for a public investigation of 9/11 in Canada. Close to the end of the hour I was confronted by a gentleman who identified himself as head of the security of the Fringe and demanded that I leave the area immediately.

The area indeed was City public sidewalk outside the barriers a half a block of the Fringe Festival gates. It was also the place that I was told by a woman dressed in black TEE that had SECURITY in white block letters on her back that seemed to identify her as security of the Fringe Festival that I INDEED could collect my petitions at today's location . (Sunday 14Th. of August). I told the gentleman who only had a name tag that identified him as Mike Ford that I was not prepared to leave until he provided me with a copy of the City of Edmonton contract that gives him the authority over me his right to demand I leave this public area.

For the second time this summer without any alternatives I insisted that Mike call the Edmonton Police Service and have me arrested because I was not going to leave this public sidewalk based on Canada';s Bill of Rights that guarantees my freedom of speech, and right to assemble and freedom of the press. He said he could not provide a contract at this time to show me the parameters of what was leased by the fringe Festival with the City of Edmonton.

Mike allowed me to finish with my petitions for the remainder of my hour and we both agreed to contact each other before the next round up petition collections by the Fringe. We will identify correctly the parameters of the Fringe Festival from the contract and decide on a more appropriate location that will work for both Mike and I. Mike then graciously signed my petition.

Doug Pruden took some time out today to sign and help promote the petition that calls for a public investigation of 9/11 in Canada. 17 more signatures were added today from both the Alberta Legislature & later under a shady black elm tree by the Fringe theatre festival. August 10, 2011: Alberta Legislature passes 700 petitioned signatures.

These two ladies signed the petition by the Alberta Legislature today to Investigate 9/11 in Canada. Their signatures took this petition beyond to a new milestone in Edmonton of 700 signatures collected thus far .

With-in a short time this afternoon 23 more signatures were added at the Alberta Legislature by the popular wading pools under another beautibul Alberta summer sky. 9/11 Activist Emily Volks yesterday supplied Doug with a fresh batch of ae911truth.org brouchures and 9/11 Investigator newspapers. Almost every time Doug offered free material, a signature was added in return. The Momentum for 9/11 truth in Edmonton continues with the Fringe fest beginning tomorrow Thursday August 11, 2011.

August 6, 2011: Caribbean Carnival and Parade: 14 more signatures were collected today by a 9/11 truth activist Doug with-in 30 minutes before the Caribbean parade began along Jasper Avenue. An additional 9 was added by the carnival next to Churchill square that same afternoon. Most folks were polite and receptive listening to Doug's reasons why Canadians need to investigate the events of 9/11 in Canada . One fellow did get irate and interrupted Doug half way through his introduction. "He tried to embarrass me in front of a near-by crowd of bystanders claiming I was crazy to suggest the official story of 9/11 was in serious question" Doug said. " I paused for a moment and replied I guess I'm crazy like the hundreds of other Edmontonians who see the need for a Public Canadian 9/11 Investigation." I smiled and bid the angry guy "enjoy the rest of your day sir".

August 7, 2011: Edmonton Folk Festival

Sunday afternoon's petition drive by the gates of the Edmonton Folk Festival proved fruitful as it did later the same evening on the foot- bridge meeting with folkies on their way home after the final set at the Edmonton Folk Festival featuring K.D. Lang. All under a sometimes light drizzly Alberta sky. Never too wet to dampen the spirits of Edmontonians for great music and confronting the hard quests of 9/11. To Date: 692 Edmontonians have said they would like to see the Canadian Government act on this petition for a Public Canadian 9/11 Investigation. Doug a 5 year veteran says he's proud to be a 9/11 truther in Canada regardless of the name calling by some.

A rainy Monday was not enough to dampen today's effort at bringing the latest news and information to Edmontonians. July 5, 2011: Last day WORKS FESTIVAL - BREAKS 500.

Petition Campaign - the last day netted 11 more additional signatures for a made in Canada Investigation of the events of 9/11 that now stands at 527 signatures collected with-in the Edmonton Metro area essentially by - one - committed - 911 truth activist since he began February 22. New petition campaigns will take place during - The Street Performers Festival July 8-17, by Churchill Square and City Hall. The Edmonton Fringe and Folk Fest, Heritage Days, Annual Dragon Boat races, Grand Prix Racing are some of the future events where petitions will be collected before ending sometime before early September 2011.

I also met today a towering gentleman Renny to whom I had the pleasure meeting for the first time as our paths crossed back in May 14 th when I was doing 911 civil information at the same farmer's market location. A burly retired blue collar worker on a bike with a new lease on life, by getting in shape riding his bike all over the map of Edmonton. Renny was full of wisdom and philosophy accented with the odd fuck'n adjective between his sentences. A proud family man with a zeal for enjoying the day chatted with me for almost a good hour sharing ideas on politics and questioning 9/11. I asked him several times to consider signing my petition but he boldly refused. "I need to look into this more before I sign" he said. Like so many who reach a point of hearing about the 3rd building world trade center 7, Nano Thermite, and many of the unanswered questions surrounding the events of 9/11 he needed time to research it more before committing his signature to a petition that demands for a public made in Canada investigation of 9/11. Well today I asked Renny again " would you consider signing my petition today?" He smiled and whipped my clip board from my hands and with-out a word of debate or second thought- signed my petition today..

June 28Th. 2011: Young First Nations Girl signs the 500th. petitioned signature during the Edmonton WORKS festival.

A mother who was enjoying the day with her kids by the City Hall's wading pool signed the petition that has Canadians demanding for a public Investigation of 9/11 across Canada . This Mother requested that her daughter age 13 sign this petition as she says her daughter knows more about 911 than most people . I thought why not, "the future belongs to young people." Indeed this young bright lady become the 500th. signatory to the petition. Note-Photo above is not this young girl. I don't think our Canadian Government would reject her signature as her right and freedom to express herself at the age of 13.

June 28, 2011" Day 3 add 12 more signatures- 501 Total! During the Downtown WORKS arts Festival

On June 28, 2011 Garth Oxton's signature became Edmonton's 501st signature collected since the first 3 signature from the start that included Dr Niels Harrit, Professor Anthony J. Hall and Captain Bruce Sinclair back in February 22nd. Almost all signatures were collected by one lone activist working the streets of Edmonton streets using the highly successful civil information activism as his tool of choice. Doug alone managed to break the record of 500 in 5 months compared to the 2008 Vancouver truth bus cross Canada petition drive also which Edmonton911Truth participated too. The reason for this success Doug explains is more and more people are better informed to the unanswered questions surrounding the events of 9/11 including world trade center 7, that was not hit by a plane, but collapsed at free-fall speed like the first two towers.

Using the friendly civil information method Doug engaged himself with an estimated 2500 people in Edmonton (one on one) over the 5 months since beginning his petition drive late February 2011.

From his experience Doug breaks those numbers down like this ...

-An average of 1 in 5 would sign the petition immediately from already knowing the reasons why we must investigate the events of 9/11.

- 1 in 5 would hesitate, some saying they've never knew about world trade center 7, some would show some interest and say "I'll need to do some more research before I'll sign your petition"

- 1 in 5 Would take a close look at what the petition was all about- scoff at it and walk away, sometimes reacting rude or insulting ( I never try to engage or argue with ass holes like these)

-2 in 5 Would briefly scan to see what the petition was about , politely say "no thanks" and would receive a smile back in return with a "thanks for looking".

New posters were placed next to old posters on city provided kiosks with-in the downtown core of Edmonton . Another 19 petitioned signatures were added bringing the total to 477 signatures collected in Edmonton so far - Only 23 signatures shy of breaking the standing record of 500 signatures collected and read in the House of Commons from the first initiative led by Vancouver 9/11 Truth and participated by Edmonton911Truth in 2008. Today's 19 signatures were collected with-in an hour during a Rock Concert held in Edmonton's Churchill Square by one 9/11 truth activist. The Band played on during this drizzly Saturday to a small but very appreciative crowd of 50.

"Your Wasting Your Time!"

One hour 9/11 civil action at the University of Alberta Students Union Building added 10 more signatures giving a new total of 411 signatures gathered in Edmonton thus far. I received an invitation to collect signatures from a member of Edmonton's Al-Rashid Mosque. He told me there is a potential for thousands of signatures from Muslim communities across Canada that would greatly add to the effectiveness of this initiative to investigate 9/11 in Canada. I promised I would come meet with folks at the Canadian Islamic center. I also chatted it up with a retired teacher who was insistent I stop wasting my time on this petition and focus more on the loss of our rights and freedoms in Canada's airports and borders because of 9/11. He was very concerned that Homeland Security in the USA will end up in Canada now that a Harper Government had a majority government. ( also see- U.S. Troops in Canada ) . I tried to convince this fellow that indeed my cause for a 9/11 investigation in Canada is important because it has the potential when more truth behind 9/11 is exposed affecting everything from homeland security to the wars of 911 retribution in Afghanistan. The ever growing world public opinion doubting George W. Bush's official 9/11 story will restore our rights and freedoms that are presently being chipped away and taken from us by democratically destructive Governments assisted by corporate media thought police , corporate interest lobbyists and the rich Military Industrial Complex . The usual free DVDs and AE911Truth.org leaflets were shared at today's action.

400 Signatures Milestone

This week's 9/11 civil actions collecting petitions took place several afternoons at the University of Alberta in front of the student union building and Rutherford Library- several University of Alberta Chemistry students received complete copies of Dr. Niels Harrit's peer reviewed paper on Active Thermitic Material. Saturday May 21, 2011 marked another milestone with petitioned signatures reaching 401 signatures. This newest 9/11 petition began in Edmonton February 22, 2011. This milestone included 1-local radio talk show host CHED's COP TALK signing the petition for a public investigation of 9/11 at the downtown 104Th. Street Farmers Market. This is still a one man petition drive in Edmonton, though I'm not complaining. I'm getting good exercise riding my bike to various locations in the city and I'm really enjoying the experience meeting interesting people and sharing ideas about 9/11. It amazes me how quickly I can gather signatures in such a short amount of time. I credit this success to the thousands of hours and material shared by friends and supporters of 9/11 truth in Edmonton since 2007. Emily's brochures, leaflets and free DVDS are going still like hot cakes . I'm very proud to be a part of this important 9/11 cause and will never regret the 5 years I put in to it when I hang up my activist shoes later this November. Since our record breaking year in 2010 with over 30 actions that included 2 elections/ civil actions, a fun filled Grey Cup weekend and a 3Rd. installment of " Edmonton Questions 9/11" featuring Dr. Niels Harrit I'm thrilled to slide into home base this fall with this successful petition drive initiated by David Long of Ottawa Truth Seekers and Richard Gage AE911Truth.org. The activist aspect of the 9/11 truth movement in Canada pretty much dead with just a few sparse activists still committed getting information out into the public... at least for now. I think that tide could change one day with another wave enthusiasm. 1 in 3 Canadians now doubt the official 9/11 story- who would have thought that 10 years later...

May 14, 2011 - TWIN TOWERS SIGN PETITION

Thirty-Six friends and supporters of 9/11 truth in Edmonton signed Saturday's petition during a civil action drive held next to the old Strathcona Farmer's Market in Edmonton. Doug reported the bulk of signatures were collected easily with-in a couple hours. "This accounts for the ever growing world-wide doubt of the official 9/11 story." Today's 36 signatures brings the total count to 358 signatures collected in Edmonton alone since February 22, 2011. Doug also shared the usual Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth brochures and 9/11 Blueprint for truth DVDs with shoppers during Saturday's action. Doug says " We have shared thousands of free material at this friendly receptive location alone for well over a 4 years with our 9-11 civil information actions". Why is 9/11/01 so important in this year's municiple elections? CFB Edmonton!

Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel says "That's a federal issue" with respect to Canada's Afghanistan mission and " That's a question I cannot answer" in regards to Investigating the crimes of 9/11 and 24 Canadians murdered .

It was here in Edmonton at the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) in 2007 former defense Minister Gordon O Connor called the mission in Afghanistan a mission of " 9/11 Retribution " . Sadly for me reports by the UN confirms they are succeeding this retribution by death and injury to thousands of Afghan citizens mostly women and children caught in the crossfire between NATO's invasion and Taliban's defending insurgence.

This" hit first and ask questions later" by Canada with out first finding out exactly what happened on 9/11 or at least investigating the murders of 24 Canadians" may blacken Canada's history known as peace-keepers around the world.

Regardless of the reasons and excuses why Politicians and Corporate Media won't address the 9/11 crimes Canadians are not willing to shut up and stand down from doing whats right. Edmonton's Military Men and Women, their families friends and all of Canadians deserve to know our troops were not placed in harms way for the wrong reasons. This one man civil information action been a hoot for me and honor to be citizen media serving Edmontonians with over 1000 leaflets shared, a few hundred posters posted around town and hundreds of positive people interactions on the busy street corners from downtown Edmonton to Old Strathcona, farmer's markets, and Universities. CBC the Fifth Estates claims 1 in 3 doubt the official 9/11 story...I think from my experience the wiser people of the Capital city would put that estimate more at 1 in 2 doubting the George W. Bush 9/11 commission official story. I've made a few mistakes, made some new friends and learned lots from this civic election action and believe I'll ready for the next Federal Election. Friday just before delivering leaflets to the Alberta Legislature a young construction worker recognized me and approached thanking me for the leaflet information I shared a few days ago. He said he wasn't going to vote at first but after seeing my candidate youtubes on Afghanistan and the 9/11 question he said he took a closer look at the candidates and now had a good idea who he was going to vote for Monday. That meant a lot for me knowing I made the difference for someone to exercise his democratic right to vote. For years democracy by our apathy in Canada has caused record low voter turn-out at the polls with all levels of government. No one cares anymore while some in other countries have to fight to the death for freedom and democracy. I hope Edmontonians will get out and vote and put to practice our freedom we still have for today. This was an easy one man effort of simply updating web sites daily, interviewing Mayor candidates and posting their reactions on You Tubes. Sharing 1000 leaflets and posting 200 posters on city provided kiosks. It proves once again that with a little imagination, good work ethic and dedication civil information actions is the most effective non violent activist tool folks can use to get their cause into their community. Total $89.00 cost for this one man civil information action came to 1 month web site rental of $9.00, posters and leaflets $80.00 printing costs. Bonus for me came from the energy of walking 50 kilometers of hanging posters giving the added benefit of a happy and healthy heart.

Afghan civilian deaths hit record high in 2011, U.N. report says

Last year was the deadliest for civilians in the decade-long U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, according to a United Nations report released Saturday. The report said 3,021 civilians were killed in 2011, an 8 percent increase from 2010. It was the fifth consecutive year that the number of deaths has increased. Continued

"The report attributed about 400 of the deaths to NATO and Afghan forces, a small decrease from 2010, with aerial attacks responsible for about half of those casualties. NATO-led night raids, a longstanding source of tension between the United States and President Hamid Karzai, accounted for 63 deaths, down 22 percent from the previous year."

Canada’s war in Afghanistan has been justified several ways since Prime Minister Stephen Harper extended the mission early last year. Depending whom you speak to, and when, our troops are fighting and dying to protect Canadians from terrorism, to protect women and children from the Taliban, or to bring democracy to Afghanistan.

But last week, (January 21, 2007) our government revealed a more cynical approach that should have all Canadians doubting the motivation for our excursion into Afghanistan – and its chance of success. Defence Minister Gordon O’Connor says Canadians are fighting in Afghanistan as "retribution" for 9-11; in other words, we’re there to get even.

Recent media reports about the war have noted a trend of escalating violence in Afghanistan, a projected increase in the number of Canadian military casualties, the rising costs of the war, and analysis that the country is "sliding into chaos."

The top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, Lt.-Gen. Karl Eikenberry, thinks the coming months of the war will be particularly violent. This would mesh with U.S. military statistics which show that in 2006, there were 4,542 direct attacks by the Taliban with guns, grenades and other weapons – up from 558 in 2005. Also in 2006, there were 1,677 roadside bomb explosions – up from 783 in 2005.

Our own military brass is also estimating that there will be 200 Canadian military casualties between this February and August – a marked increase from the 190 casualties reported for all of 2006. News reports from last October noted that of those 190, 65 soldiers had to be medically evacuated back to Canada. Commander David Wilcox, the senior military physician in Atlantic Canada, recently said that 60 of the anticipated 200 casualties before August will be severe enough to require transportation back to Canada.

As the human costs go up, so will the financial costs for Canada. According to CBC reports, military costs in Afghanistan reached $1.8 billion in May 2006, or about $1.45 million per day of the mission. That’s expected to exceed $3 billion by 2009, says the CBC. But even our government admits that’s low-balling it. O’Connor himself has put the cost by 2009 at $4 billion, which would nearly double the daily price to $2.7 million.

So what do we have to show for this increased commitment?

Certainly our government is not telling our troops everything it knows. Speaking at CFB Gagetown recently, O’Connor said that the lives of Afghans were improving and that, "These are real achievements and as the progress continues, the momentum will build and the chances of the Taliban regaining their hold on this country will be more and more remote." These statements stand in stark contrast with credible accounts of the so-called progress.

A new article in the international journal Foreign Affairs warns that Afghanistan is "sliding into chaos" and that the NATO-led mission will fail without a dramatic change in strategy that includes getting serious about that country’s poverty and other economic and social issues.

So far, the Conservative government has been extremely guarded as to exactly where its foreign aid is going in Afghanistan. Contributions are expected to reach $1 billion by 2011 and yet an eight-person, all-party Commons defence committee visiting Afghanistan last week was banned from seeing how much of that money is going towards reconstruction, and how much might also be slated for "retribution."

O’Connor’s misrepresentation of the situation in Afghanistan puts serious doubts on his ability to handle a war that has already claimed the lives of 44 Canadian soldiers, and that is projected to kill or maim another 200 by August.

The Harper government ran on a platform of accountability. Yet Harper and his ministers continue to be evasive about the true costs of war, the real chances of success and exactly where all our reconstruction money is going in Afghanistan.

Getting even with the Taliban might make our defence minister feel better, but according to recent evidence, it will achieve nothing in the long run.

Rather than misleading Canadian troops who deployed from Edmonton, Atlantic Canada and Ontario last week, O’Connor should be honest about the situation they will be facing when they reach Afghanistan – you would think he owes that much to the men and women who are prepared to sacrifice their lives there.

If not, perhaps the Canadian public will seek their own "retribution" at the ballot box.

Study shows 92% of Afghans Never Heard of 9-11

As a NATO summit wrapped up in Lisbon on Saturday extending the Afghan war to at least 2014, the U.S. Army announced it will soon deploy tanks in Afghanistan (about 15 M1A1 Abrams tanks), a first for U.S. forces in this nine-year war. This U.S.-led war is already longer than the Vietnam war and twice as long as World War II.

The ‘official’ reason for Afghanistan’s invasion by the George W. Bush administration was to try to find Osama Bin Laden who was then accused to be the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks.

This article below shows that today, most Afghans have never heard of 9-11. After nine long years of occupation, one would think the U.S. army and NATO would have done a much better job into — at least — let the residents of this once-again occupied territory know why they are there and why they’ve dropped bombs on them killing and injuring over 100,000.

Afghan civilian casualties rise 31 per cent in first six months of 2010.

10 August 2010 - Tactics of the Taliban and other Anti-Government Elements (AGEs) are behind a 31 per cent increase in conflict-related Afghan civilian casualties in the first six months of 2010 compared with the same period in 2009, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said today in releasing its 2010 Mid-Year Report on Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict. Among those killed or injured by the Taliban and other AGEs were 55 per cent more children than in 2009, along with six per cent more women. Casualties attributed to Pro-Government Forces (PGF) fell 30 per cent during the same period, driven by a 64 per cent decline in deaths and injuries caused by aerial attacks.

“Afghan children and women are increasingly bearing the brunt of this conflict. They are being killed and injured in their homes and communities in greater numbers than ever before,” said Staffan de Mistura, Special Representative of the Secretary-General.

From 1 January to 30 June 2010, UNAMA Human Rights Unit documented 3,268 civilian casualties including 1,271 deaths and 1,997 injuries. AGEs were responsible for 2,477 casualties (76 per cent of all casualties, up 53 per cent from 2009) while 386 were attributed to PGF activities (12 per cent of all casualties, down 30 per cent from 2009).

Analysis by UNAMA Human Rights Unit identified two critical developments that increased harm to civilians in the first six months of 2010 compared to 2009: AGEs used a greater number of larger and more sophisticated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) throughout the country; and, the number of civilians assassinated and executed by AGEs rose by more than 95 per cent and included public executions of children.

“The devastating human impact of these events underscores that, nine years into the conflict, measures to protect Afghan civilians effectively and to minimize the impact of the conflict on basic human rights are more urgent than ever. All those concerned must do more to protect civilians and comply with their legal obligations not to attack civilians,” said Georgette Gagnon, Director of Human Rights for UNAMA.

IEDs and suicide attacks killed 557 Afghans and injured 1,137 in the first six months of 2010. IEDs alone accounted for 29 per cent of all civilian deaths in the period, including 74 children, a 155 per cent increase in IED-related deaths of children in the same span in 2009.

Aerial attacks by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) remained the most harmful PGF tactic, causing 69 of the 223 civilian deaths attributed to PGF in the first six months of 2010 (31 per cent) and injuring 45 Afghan civilians. However, civilian deaths caused by PGF aerial attacks decreased 64 per cent from the same period in 2009, reflecting growing implementation of ISAF’s July 2009 Tactical Directive regulating the use of air strikes and other measures to reduce civilian casualties.

On a regional basis, civilian casualties grew the most in southern Afghanistan in the first six months of 2010. More than half of assassinations and executions occurred in the southern region, where more than one hundred Afghan civilians were killed in such incidents. Overall, conflict-related civilian deaths in the south increased by 43 per cent. Civilians assassinated and executed included teachers, nurses, doctors, tribal elders, community leaders, provincial and district officials, other civilians including children, and civilians working for international military forces and international organizations.

“This intensified pattern of assassinations and executions reinforced the widespread perception of Afghan civilians that they are becoming more and more the primary target in this period of conflict,” said Staffan de Mistura, Special Representative of the Secretary-General.

Releasing the 2010 Mid-Year Report, UNAMA underscored the 7 July 2010 statement of the United Nations Secretary-General that stressed ensuring greater compliance with international law by all concerned remains a “huge common challenge” in Afghanistan. Basic human rights and international humanitarian law principles of distinction, proportionality and precaution that apply to all parties to an armed conflict, requiring them to minimize civilian loss of life and injury must be reinforced at this critical period.

UNAMA Human Rights Unit issued recommendations in the report including:

• The Taliban should withdraw all orders and statements calling for the killing of civilians; and, the Taliban and other AGEs should end the use of IEDs and suicide attacks, comply with international humanitarian law, cease acts of intimidation and killing including assassination, execution and abduction, fully respect citizens’ freedom of movement and stop using civilians as human shields.

• International military forces should make more transparent their investigation and reporting on civilian casualties including on accountability; maintain and strengthen directives restricting aerial attacks and the use of night raids; coordinate investigation and reporting of civilian casualties with the Afghan Government to improve protection and accountability; improve compensation processes; and, improve transparency around any harm to civilians caused by Special Forces operations.

• The Afghan Government should create a public body to lead its response to major civilian casualty incidents and its interaction with international military forces and other key actors, ensure investigations include forensic components, ensure transparent and timely compensation to victims; and, improve accountability including discipline or prosecution for any Afghan National Security Forces personnel who unlawfully cause death or injury to civilians or otherwise violate the rights of Afghan citizens.

KABUL - The first half of this year was the deadliest six months for civilians in Afghanistan since the decade-old war began, the country's UN mission said on Thursday.

Civilian deaths hit a record high, up 15 percent on the first half of 2010, due to roadside and suicide bombings, increased ground fighting and more deadly air strikes.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said 1,462 civilians had been killed in conflict-related incidents. It blamed insurgents for 80 percent of those deaths, up nearly a third on the same period last year.

"The rising tide of violence and bloodshed in the first half of 2011 brought injury and death to Afghan civilians at levels without recorded precedent in the current armed conflict," the report said, adding that plans to hand over security in parts of the country helped fuel the rise in casualties.

"Violence rose as (insurgents) sought to demonstrate that Afghan security forces could not manage security on their own," the report said.

Pro-government forces, including the Afghan police and army and NATO-led troops were responsible for 14 percent of civilian deaths, a drop of 9 percent. But air strikes, one of the most controversial tactics in the war, killed more people.

WTC 7: Sound Evidence for Explosions

There is ample evidence, from both witnesses and recordings, of explosions associated with the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7 (WTC 7). NIST sidestepped investigating explosions and explosives by setting up an artificially high threshold of interest. They swept aside any testimony or recordings of explosions that would not register 130-140 dB one kilometer away. They established this criterion using RDX (one of the loudest explosives) in a scenario that produced a far higher sound level than other possible uses of explosives to bring down the building. Then they turned around and used sound level as the sole criterion for deciding whether the use of explosives was a credible hypothesis. By this maneuver, they sidestepped investigating the testimony of explosives or possible evidence of explosive residues. This is just one more instance of fraudulent behavior on the part of the NIST investigation of the World Trade Center disaster.

Administrators at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQÀM) say they will develop a formal policy for outside groups renting campus space for events after a controversial lecture about 9/11 drew fire by academic staff.

But the French-language university defended its right to have contentious speakers lecture on campus as part of free speech, saying it was appropriate to debate ideas, as long as events don't incite riots.

The Monday night lecture, hosted by World for 9/11 Truth, drew about 700 people who came to hear from two U.S. academics who deny the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks were carried out by terrorists.

The researchers – David Ray Griffin and Richard Gage – believe the U.S. government played a major role in orchestrating the deadly attacks on New York City's Twin Towers and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Griffin and Gage are lobbying for an independent inquiry into the attacks, which killed 3,000 people. Their theories – part of the self-titled Truthers movement that formed after Sept. 11 – have been repeatedly discounted by scientists and civil engineering experts.

U.S. experts at UQÀM upset
Some professors at the school argue conspiracy theories have no place at UQÀM.

Julien Tourreille, who holds the Raoul-Dandurand chair in strategic and diplomatic issues, told Montreal media outlets that Truthers are intellectually dishonest.

"I think it's a shame to see UQÀM's name associated to such a movement," Tourreille told Montreal newspaper La Presse last week. "It doesn't help the credibility of a research institution that tries to demonstrate that it employs serious people."

U.S. experts at other Quebec institutions, including Steven Saideman at McGill University and Louis Balthazar at Laval University, also spoke out in public against the conference.

Griffin and Gage gave a similar talk at the University of Toronto over the weekend.

"UQAM staff denounce 9/11 Truthers speech": this article quotes just one person associated with UQAM--Julien Tourreille, who possesses an MA degree and is working toward his doctorate, but is not a member of UQAM''s faculty--and very definitely not the "titulaire" of a named professorship.

Mr. Tourreille must feel flattered to be described, at this early stage in his academic career, as holding "the Raoul-Dandurand chair in strategic and diplomatic issues."

Has anyone at the CBC actually read the website of the UQAM "Chaire Raoul-Dandurand en études stratégiques et diplomatiques"? The real holder of this research chair is Professor Charles Philippe David, who during a sabbatical leave has been replaced, as "titulaire par intérim," by Professor Barthélémy Courmont.

Readers will be reassured to learn that Steven Saideman and Louis Balthazar, who are mentioned but not quoted in the article, are--as advertised--professors at McGill and Laval respectively. But do they have any record of publication in relation to the scientific and material evidence surrounding 9/11 that Mr. Richard Gage and Professor David Ray Griffin have addressed? Apparently not.

Why not give this article an honest title? How about "UQAM Graduate Student Disapproves of Distinguished 9/11 Sceptics"? And if you want to insist that Griffin's and Gage's analyses "have been repeatedly discounted by scientists and civil engineering experts," perhaps you could also add that their claims are supported by peer-reviewed scientific studies and endorsed by the more than 1,000 members of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth.

It's a matter of what we used to call "journalistic integrity."

Whatever you believe about 9/11, one thing is certain. The official explanation alleging that three sky scrapers disintegrated because two of them were hit by airliners cannot be true. Not only is the story a lie - it is not even a good lie. Virtually everything that is factually known about the event contradicts the official line.

All truth activists are demanding is that there be an independent international investigation of this monumental crime. Twenty-four Canadians died on foreign soil and we are still at war because of this. How many Canadian troops and Afghan civilians will have to die before we find the courage to ask ourselves: Who are the real terrorists?

In Edmonton we've had 2 speaking events titled " Edmonton Questions 9/11" that featured journalist, author Barrie Zwicker, Professor Anthony J. Hall who heads up the Global studies department at Lethbridge University and Dr. Kevin Barrett , radio host, author and Congressional candidate for the Libertarian party in Wisconsin USA. We also experienced threats of protest outside our first venue from an organized skeptics club at the University of Alberta that did not happen and also a serious complaint and accusation from one Edmontonian who falsely accused our guest speaker Dr. Kevin Barrett as being an anti semitic and here to spread hate.

He tried to lobby the Stanley Milner Library to stop our event that was put on by a small group from Edmonton911truth. The city management from the Library checked this complaint and indeed Dr Barrett was never found at spreading hate...but clearly guilty as all our guests at questioning the crimes of 9/11 and his own Government by encouraging for a new independent criminal investigation of 9/11 apart from the George Bush established 9/11 commission report.

We are proud of our officials who refused to give in to fear from and pressure by the unfounded accusations of 1 man. That man later attended our event with a complimentary ticket from us and was given the mike and complete freedom to question Dr Barrett on his question of anti semitism.

I hope the Administrators at the University of Quebec in Montreal will find that same courage as our Library officials here in Edmonton did and avoid such a policy that stifles freedom of speech. Our Library has allowed us 3 events so far...

Our Universities are no place for policies that police our freedom of thought...

Except, I supposed, for the 1200 obviously rogue architects and engineers who are members of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, the organization that architect Richard Gage founded. And Neils Harrit of the University of Copenhagen whose team found the residues of nanothermite in the WTC wreckage. People like that.

CBC, you could have had the courtesy to call Dr Griffin by his proper title, perhaps also mention that he has published 9 books relating to 9/11 and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in both 2008 and 2009.

On September 11th. 2009 Michael Enright interviewed David Frum about the attacks of 9/11, 2001 on Sunday Edition. David Frum was speech-writer for the president; he is reported to have coined the phrase "Axis of Evil". David Frum stated that Barbara Olson made phone-calls from the flight to her husband Ted Olson, Solicitor General in the GW Bush Administration.
Barbara was on the flight that is alleged to have struck the Pentagon. Barbara mentioned box-cutters. Dr. David Ray Griffin has written a lot about those phone calls. The FBI has stated in court that the calls did not happen. CBC listeners need to know that CBC will investigate such conflicting stories and report back to the listeners with their findings. The box-cutter story hangs on the accuracy of Ted Olson's claim. Universities in Canada need to encourage such investigations since 24 Canadians died on 9/11 and subsequently 140 died in Afghanistan.
How many Afghans have died since 2001?

Every Member of Parliament and every Senator in Canada got copies of documents and DVDs showing that the 9/11 Report is false. They got new and up-dated copies delivered to the House in Ottawa.

Tony, Bruce and Doug joined Emily Vokes Sunday April 11th 2010 and did what they do best by civil informing Edmontonians sharing the latest news and information regarding the lies and crimes of 9/11. They took the 9/11 message to two of the busiest corners along 82 Ave in Old Srathcona Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of free DVDs and http://ae911truth.org/ brochures were shared in what turned out to be a pleasant sunny afternoon.

Folks along the avenue were very friendly, thankful and receptive sharing our desire to have an independent criminal investigation of the crimes of 9/11, 24 Canadians murdered and to bring our troops home from this war of 9/11 retribution...

The CBCs 5th Estate says that 1 in 3 Canadians doubt the official story.

For two years the city of Edmonton kiosks have had something posted at least twice a month regarding the crimes of 9/11/01. There has been no letting up of the message calling for a criminal investigation of the crimes of 9/11 using this one method of Civil Informing our community . The commitment has caused mixed reactions from Edmontontians , both positive and negative .

Some days people would rip them down as soon as they were put up, but other days someone would remove posters that covered our 9/11 posters and do this several times with the same poster over a course weeks. The best story on the effect of this poster action comes from a local magazine SEE that wrote a movie review. The Reviewer decided to relate the poor showing of this movie and suggested posting the same way as those “ Edmonton Questions 9/11 Posters we see all over town… SEE Magazine Story:

It was another beautiful day as the weatherman probably a 9/11 truther provided us the warmth needed for 9/11 civil informing Edmontonians of the latest news and information regarding the crimes of 9/11.

9/11 DVDs and the literature from Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth were shared as was friendly conversation and smiles. A couple distracters showed up complained and refused to take a look the material. This was countered by the presence of Canada's youngest 9/11 truth activist Sophey. Special thanks to Dr Joe Hawkins of StopLying.ca for the Manitoba University lecture of Richard Gage on DVD, It remains our number one free handout to the city of Edmonton. Thousands have burned and distributed.

9/11 Speakers Corner began as a community project in the city of Edmonton September 2008 and is now in its 11 month of publishing peoples thoughts, ideas and reactions to the questions surrounding the lies and crimes of 9/11.

I first got the idea of 9/11 speakers corner after viewing some of the thousands video accounts of 9/11 truth activism reported from various locations around the world showing how and what it is we do by way of actions and bringing the questions of 9/11 into our communities.

I though what if we turned our cameras onto the people to hear what they have to say about the lies and crimes of 9/11.

Another reason for this project may be to get some measured feed-back from what the 9/11 truth movement has accomplished in just 8 short years.

Living downtown for me sometimes opportunities to do 9/11 civil info comes with-out warning. I started my afternoon heading out the door for some coffee at the local Tim Hortons and the first thing I noticed was for a Saturday the streets were filling up with a lot of people (more so than normal).

I asked a couple cops what was up and they said there was a gay pride parade coming down Jasper ave @ 2pm...I got thinking about a stack of 9/11 public newsletters I had left over from our 11th day actions, so I ran home, grabbed my activist bag, 9/11 truth sign, camera and a bottle of water...I was set not only to enjoy my first ever gay pride parade but another opportunity to inform Edmontonians about the need for a 9/11 criminal investigation. I became the media! The parade was a blast, the people were awesome ... I ended up giving away the last batch of 9/11 public newsletters...

Warm Day met with Warm Smiles for 9/11 Truth, July 11th 2009

July's 11th. day actions took place at one of our favorite locations under the black elm tree by Gazebo park in Old Strathcona on farmer's market day. The weather was warm just like the smiles from folks appreciating our bringing the lasted news and information on the crimes and lies of 9/11. We gave away about 100 free DVDs ( 9/11 Blueprint for Truth/ Winnipeg University Speaking event with Richard Gage) and 0ver 200- 9/11 public newsletters and WTC7 information hand-outs. Before today's 3 hour truth action event posters were installed on city provided kiosks with details explaining the NY CAN initiative. Tony and Richard were on hand today for 11th day actions on behalf of the Truthaction.org initiative. We received a $50.00 donation to purchase more material for future 9/11 civil information events. Thank you Edmonton for your support for truth and Justice of the Lies and Crimes of 9/11.

'Truthers' avoid the difficult problem of making the world more secure

The Wire, a complex and critically acclaimed HBO television series about the ways in which human systems are doomed to fail, never found a huge audience. By contrast, the Law & Order and CSI franchises, in which a simple conspiracy is at the base of every crime, are multibillion-dollar entertainment properties. The Da Vinci Code outsold every novel ever written about the problem of faith. In recent years, the controversy around who shot John F. Kennedy has overshadowed anything he said or accomplished during his presidency.

We have evolved into beings who prefer intelligent designs to the horror of chaos.

The latest and most powerful intelligent design, or conspiracy theory, to jump from the margin to the mainstream concerns the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Among the rock and theatre posters on every public board and pole in the city, there are handbills and mock-ups of American banknotes advertising "Edmonton 911 Truth," one of three organizations here that suggest the events of Sept. 11 were not as the mainstream media have presented them. Similar organizations, run by committed volunteers, thrive in cities all over North America.

There are a number of books and documentary films, and an endless collection of YouTube videos. Each presents a full or partial version of an alternate narrative: The World Trade Centre buildings collapsed because of bombs, not the airplanes; Flight 93 did not crash in a field in Shanksville, Pa.; the whole scene at the Pentagon was staged. It was all planned and executed by someone in order to invade Iraq and Afghanistan and gain control of Middle Eastern oil and gas.

"Where I am right now is I don't point fingers," said Doug Brinkman, an activist who works at night and spends his days at places like the legislature and the Old Strathcona Farmers Market, distributing DVDs and answering questions. On the day we met for a coffee, he wore a giant red T-shirt that said The Surreality Show. "I want a new investigation, a made-in-Canada investigation. The 9/11 Commission left too many questions unanswered. If we're in Afghanistan because of Sept. 11, I want to know our soldiers are dying for the right reason."

This is where the 9/11 truth movement, as it's called, differs from other grand designs. Sept. 11 wasn't so long ago, and people are still dying as a consequence of it. Digital technology has allowed for cheap productions and instant communication, making a documentary filmmaker out of anyone with access to a computer. Some in the 9/11 truth movement raise legitimate and troubling questions and devote themselves to scientific veracity.

Yet it also attracts cranks and anti-Semites; it's linked to other conspiracies involving spooky airplane "chem trails" in the sky, secret mind-control weapons, the Illuminati and contemporary versions of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Like all conspiracy theories, it's cheap entertainment for people avoiding the desperately difficult human project of making the world a more secure, less miserable place.

Some people resent Brinkman and his fellow truthers, both for diverting the argument and for dishonouring the dead. He respects his critics, and respectfully dismisses them. "I hate doing this stuff, to be honest," he said. "My father thinks I'm a war criminal for doing this. We're just trying to be the media, because the media failed. They aren't interested in the truth."

The truthers claim several celebrities as their own, including Charlie Sheen, Woody Harrelson, Sharon Stone, Eminem, Rosie O'Donnell and Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Unfortunately for the truthers, the most trusted voice among American critics, Noam Chomsky, doesn't subscribe to the listserve.

In a panel discussion, he called the possibility of an inside job extremely unlikely. "They'd have to be insane to do anything like that," Chomsky said, adding that leaks would have been inevitable, along with firing squads and the destruction of the Republican Party forever.

Chomsky would prefer that people focus on what has happened after Sept. 11, which was predictable: authoritarian regimes had a reason to become more authoritarian.

Even more devastating is a YouTube video by the Onion News Network (ONN), part of the fake news juggernaut. In a pretend debate, organized like a CNN item, a book author accusing the American government of engineering the Sept. 11 attacks argues with a senior leader of al-Qaida.

"How would you like it," says the angry al-Qaida leader, Omar Al Farouq, "if you spent, you know, two months in mountain caves, sleeping on rocks, planning something really special, only to have someone take the credit from you?"

At a time when reality programs and karaoke contests are thriving, when fewer and fewer North Americans read magazines, newspapers or books of any sort, you can't blame Brinkman and his peers for seeing a conspiracy, or a mystery novel, where there may only be gross incompetence. The media are in the midst of a transition, and so is truth.

Thank you for pointing out this article.

It's difficult to attribute Mr. Babiak's column simply to irresponsible journalism.

Mr. Babiak has researched the subject enough to list six media celebrities who have criticized the official account of 9/11.

His failure to mention any of the hundreds of credible critics of the official account of 9/11 from the military, intelligence services, law enforcement, government, professional architects and engineers, pilots, professors and others, whom he must have also discovered in his research, leads one to believe Mr. Babiak is intentionally trying to mislead and manipulate his readers.

Fair and balanced?

Why doesn't Mr. Babiak mention the former Commanding General of U.S. Army Intelligence or the former Chairman of the CIA's National Intelligence Estimates, both of whom do not accept the official account? Surely their opinion on matters of terrorism and national security are much more relevant than actors and singers.
